Teaching & Learning Resources

• 21st Century Curriculum and Instruction – This e-paper from the Partnership for 21st Century Skills describes research-based curricular models designed to support 21st Century skills development.
• 21st Century Skills, Education & Competitiveness: A Resource and Policy Guide – Published by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, this report outlines what educators today can do to better prepare students to participate in the 21st century.
• 21st Century Skills Professional Development – This e-paper from the Partnership for 21st Century Skills answers a variety of questions on teacher professional development meant to develop and enhance 21st Century skills.
• Guide to Online High School Courses – This guide from the National Education Association outlines standards and features necessary for quality online courses at the high school level.
• Guide to Teaching Online Courses – This guide from the National Education Association provides an overview of how to develop an effective online education system, focusing on the skills and professional development teachers need.
• Standards for the 21st Century Learner – Published by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), the document describes how learners use skills, resources, and tools to develop 21st century skills.

Class Resources

• EPA Resources for Educators – The Environmental Protection Agency provides a range of educational resources on environmental topics. Resources are available for various grade levels for K-12.
• Free F.I.L.M. Curricula – F.I.L.M. (Finding Inspiration in Literature & Movies) is a movie curricula program for young people promoting reading, activity-based learning and service. The program from Heartland Truly Moving Pictures and the National Collaboration for Youth (NCY) focuses on the development and distribution of free curricula based on Truly Moving Picture award-winning films to channel positive messages and life-affirming themes into the minds and lives of youth.
• NASA Resources for Educators – NASA provides a range of science and technology resources for educators. Resources are available for various grade levels for K-12 as well as higher education.
• Teachers' Domain: Digital Media for the Classroom and Professional Development – This online library offers free classroom media resources from public television programs such as NOVA, Frontline, Design Squad, American Experience, and other public broadcasting and content partners.

ANGEL Resources

• Instructional Design in ANGEL – Written by ANGEL Learning, this document gives ANGEL instructors, designers, and administrators a working knowledge of instructional design and the ability to apply that design to the courses they’re developing in ANGEL.
• The Power of Virtual Worlds in Education: A Second Life Primer and Resource for Exploring the Potential of Virtual Worlds to Impact Teaching and Learning – Written by the ANGEL Learning Isle Second Life Steering Committee, an ANGEL Learning Special Interest Group, and presented at the 2008 ANGEL User Conference.

Funding Opportunities

• Best Buy Teach Award Program
  Open to K12 schools, Best Buy Teach Awards recognize creative uses of interactive technology in the classroom. Winning programs focus on kids using technology to learn standards-based curriculum.

• Mini Grants for Educators 2009 – The DTE Energy Foundation offers grants for projects based on math and science, energy, and the environment.
• NASA Announces Competitive Grant Programs
  July 18, 2008
  NASA's Office of Education announced three new extramural funding opportunities for grants or cooperative agreements for science and technology instruction.

• National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Grant Program
  NCTM's Emerging Teacher-Leaders in Elementary School Mathematics Grants for Grades K–5 Teachers recognizes an elementary school teacher who has a demonstrated commitment to mathematics teaching and learning.
